Request free charter signs.

Little Free Library aims to grant free charter signs to stewards for whom the cost of registering a library is out of reach. Please consider whether you are able to afford a charter sign - purchases from our online store help us make grants of libraries to communities where book access is scarce.
Applicants are reviewed on a monthly basis.
Little Free Library has limited capacity and may not be able to fulfill all requests.
We welcome applications from organizations with limited budgets who'd like to officially register or start their Little Free Libraries.

Before applying...

Review the following. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be eligible.

Applicants must:

Be 18 years or older.
Be in the United States or Canada.
Have permission to apply on behalf of an organization.
Identify local person(s) responsible for and with regular access to the libraries.
Have all libraries installed or ready to install before applying.
Have confirmed library location(s) with all permissions/permits approved (if library is not yet installed).
Submit only one application per household per six months.

Please note we review applications on a monthly basis. You can expect to hear back in the first two weeks of the month following the month you submitted your application. For example, applications received in September will be awarded in the first two weeks of October. Thank you for your patience!

Terms for accepting a free charter sign grant:

I will install all libraries and attach charter signs.
Set up a steward account and complete the library registration.
I will add the library’s location and photo to the Little Free Library world map. *If your library is not mapped by the first of the following month you receive your grant, LFL will automatically map your library for you. The location and address of your library will be public. There is an option to opt out of mapping if needed.
I will submit a photo and story about the impact of the library after installation.
I will respond to all follow-up communications from Little Free Library.
I will credit the Little Free Library and tag the Little Free Library on social media.
I will acknowledge that Little Free Library® and its logo are registered trademarks of LFL, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. LFL grants grant recipients revocable, non-transferable permission to use our trademarked name and logo to promote our collaborative activities through their communication channels and promotional materials. When using LFL's marks, grant recipients must state "Little Free Library® and its logo are registered trademarks of Little Free Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and are used with its permission.” Grant recipients may not alter LFL's trademark or logo, use it to raise funds, sell goods or services or otherwise claim a direct affiliation with LFL without the express, written permission of LFL in advance.
